Baldwin Pianos

Pianos are very significant and high-priced musical instruments and pieces of art. Often, transporting one would require the services of professional piano movers, especially if the brand of piano is one that is customary and prestigious. An example of this is a Baldwin piano, made by the Baldwin Piano company.

During its peak, the Baldwin firm was the biggest U.S.-based piano constructor in the country. It would at last be a subsidiary of Gibson Guitar Corporation early in the 2000s, but before then, Baldwin Piano's 120+ years of history would see the yield of an unprecedented amount of pianos, shipped all over the world, and prized by many.

Piano Concerto

Baldwin Piano firm began when Dwight Hamilton Baldwin, after selling Decker Pianos for 10+ years with his firm partner, Lucien Wulsin, decided he wanted to make "the best piano that could be built". In 1891, the first Baldwin Piano was made, and 4 years later came the first grand piano.

Dwight Baldwin did not live to see his company's legacy, however, as he passed away in 1899. Lucien Wulsin would take the reins and drive the firm to the future, as Baldwin Pianos became recognized all over the world, winning a amount of awards and recognitions from the industry. In 1913, because of all its success, the firm was exporting to around 32 countries all over the world.

The Great Depression and World War Ii would prove to be troubling times, yet both times the firm would rise up and overcome the challenges. In the Great Depression, the firm survived due to funds reserved by Lucien Wulsin Ii. And in World War Ii, the Baldwin factories, after being used by the military, brought about new manufacturing techniques that would expand the yield of the pianos.

Success would be plentiful for the next couple of decades, but when the 70s and the 80s hit, things began to change. Baldwin was forced into bankruptcy in 1983, and after a 15 year resurgence into the market, would do so again in the early 2000, forcing their sale to Gibson Guitar Corporation.

Nevertheless, Baldwin's instruments continue to be very popular today, and are still being used by some of the best modern artists in the music industry.
