Paul McCartney - The Beatles - A Biography

James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942 in Liverpool. He was the first son of Mary and James McCartney. His brother, Peter Michael McCartney, was born eighteen months later. Paul's mom was a midwife, who died from breast cancer in 1955 when Paul was just 14, this troubled Paul deeply. Paul's father was a cotton salesman while the day for A. Hannay Co., and a jazz musician with Jim Mac's Jazz Band at night. Paul did very well in school. He passed his 11-Plus test in 1957 and entered the Liverpool Institute, a very beloved high school. There, he met a younger trainee by the name of George Harrison whom Paul later brought with him into John's group, The Quarrymen. As a child, Paul showed no single interest in music. Both he and his brother were sent to piano lessons, but these didn't last long. Then he was given a trumpet by an uncle, and he began to teach himself. His musical talent probably came from his father. Of all The Beatles, Paul's house was the only one with any musical background or interest. At the Liverpool Institute, Paul became popular. His dealings with young girls, however, had minuscule ensue on his grades. He was a top student, but he soon found that school was interfering with his group life. Like John and the others, Paul was influenced by early rock songs. Still, it was Elvis that formed the greatest impression on him. Paul first met John straight through a mutual friend, Ivan Vaughan. Vaughan invited Paul to see The Quarrymen play at the Wooton Parish. c The Quarrymen, and Paul accepted. Paul's first group performance with The Quarrymen was at a dance at the Conservative Club in Broadway. Paul was supposed to play a solo that night, but for some reason, he never did. What he did do after the dance was play John some songs that he had written himself. John was impressed and later tried to write songs of his own. Neither wrote anything of much value, but the two began collaborating, each egging the other on to great works. From that day until the end of The Beatles, they never stopped, and together they became "Lennon & McCartney," one of the most famed song writing duos of the twentieth century. Once they had become established songwriters, Paul and John would often write independently of one another. John's songs were more raw rock 'n' roll, while Paul's tended to be more romantic. Songs like "Yesterday," "Michelle," and "Lovely Rita" are typical McCartney songs. An early deal between Paul and John assured that all Beatle songs that whether wrote would bear the trademark of "Lennon & McCartney." Paul met Jane Asher at a pop concert at Albert Hall. She was then seventeen. The Radio Times asked her to go along to the concert to give her impressions of The Beatles. After the concert, she was invited back to their hotel for a drink. That night Paul and Jane spent the evening together. "I realized she was the girl for me," Paul once said. Jane, however, summed up her impression of the boys by exclaiming, "They couldn't believe I was a virgin. " Paul wanted Jane to give up acting to be with him constantly. She refused. This led to a number of arguments, but Paul was still attracted to her. It was for Jane Asher that he wrote "I'm finding straight through You" and "And I Love Her." Marriage seemed inevitable, and on Christmas Day, 1967, Paul asked Jane to be his wife. She acceptable (Bio..)(Paul Mc...)

In 1969 rumors started to spread that Paul was dead. Rumors of the death were exaggerated. No one knows for sure where the "Paul is Dead" rumor began. Some rumors were spread that Paul had been dead for three years and that he had been supplanted by a look a like. Beatles fans in any place looked for clues that were left intentionally in lyrics, article covers and pictures that would report the truth about the hoax.

Symphonic Dances

The idea that Paul McCartney was dead for three years surfaced while the publish of Abbey Road in September of 1969. The first indications of the hoax were printed in two Midwestern College newspapers (Iowa's Drake University Times-Delphic and Northern Illinois University's Northern Star). Russel Gibb, a Detroit radio jock for Wknr Fm read about the story in the college newspaper articles and invented new "clues" for listeners. Listeners called the radio middle point and claimed to be able to hear private messages by playing Revolution #9 and other songs backwards. A walrus is a Greek stamp for death. In the song Glass Onion, John Lennon sings, "well here's another clues for you all, the walrus is Paul," which linked Paul to his "death".

According to one myth. Paul left the recording studio in anger, following a fight with the rest of the group. Paul stormed out of the studio, jumped into his car and sped off (I Buried P...). All of the clues point to a car accident that reportedly happened prior to Paul leaving the studio in anger. On November 10, 1966 a British newspaper reported that on Wednesday morning at five o'clock someone was complex in a car accident, according to the newspaper the accident was so bad that the body could not be identified in any way. In A Day In The Life, John Lennon sings, "he blew his mind out in a car, he didn't observation that the light had changed, a crowd of people stood and stared, they'd seen his face before, nobody was precisely sure if he was from the house of god (in the song god sounds like Paul)(I Buried P...)

Many visual clues were on the Abbey Road Lp. The media began reporting the joke as a fact as soon as it was released. The rumors began to grow larger. In October of 1969 McCartney himself made a group appearance in which he stated the breaking up of The Beatles. In a 1970 Rolling Stone interview with John Lennon, Lennon was asked if any of the private clues were supposed to have any meaning. Lennon replied, "No. That was bull. The whole thing was made up."

The Beatles enjoyed attention. They were jokers; maybe they were just having a minuscule fun with their fans. Some people today still believe that Paul is dead because of the many convincing clues. No evidence shows that any of the members were behind the hoax. No one can prove that it did or didn't happen. The fact of the matter is that Paul is alive today. He is currently married to an ex-model. He is touring the concert world. And he is still a Living legend.

Dances & Waves: Schoenbrunn 2012 Summer Night Concert

Dances & Waves: Schoenbrunn 2012 Summer Night Concert Review

Dances & Waves: Schoenbrunn 2012 Summer Night Concert Overview

A soirée is in full swing, the assembled company enjoying itself immensely and dancing a polonaise. Only one of the guests stands apart, Eugene Onegin, the opera s hero or, rather, the anti-hero of an anti-opera that Tchaikovsky wisely described not as an opera at all but as a series of Lyric Scenes . Here the golden rules of the theatre seem to have been cast aside in favour of a bold attempt to bring Pushkin s Eugene Onegin to life on the operatic stage, an attempt all the more remarkable in that the Russian poet s verse novel has always been regarded as a national treasure. But Tchaikovsky overcame every doubt, including his own. The drama stems from the music, and the orchestra alone is aware of the emotional depths of which St Petersburg s partying high society remains wholly unsuspecting. This final act ends badly for the chronically bored Onegin, a dandy and a ladies man spoilt by success. Even the polonaise portends disaster for him, progressing with an implacable majesty as inevitable as the fate that is soon to prove the undoing of the burnt-out bon vivant. All of Tchaikovsky s works, be they operas or symphonies, deal with this hostile force of a superior destiny.
The Russian composer was possessed by a positively paranoid belief in fate, seeing it at work wherever he looked, even in parties and balls and a baleful polonaise. But whereas Tchaikovsky needed only the circumscribed world of landowners, aristocrats and members of the officer class for his metaphysical social dramas, his two fellow countrymen Modest Mussorgsky and Alexander Borodin wrote their amorphous unfinished operas against a broader historical background that encompassed a vast panorama of Russian history, geography and culture. Borodin spent almost two decades struggling to find the right form for an opera based on the medieval Lay of the Host of Igor, an early Russian heroic epic that he tried to adapt as both librettist and composer, deliberating at length on matters of music and dramaturgy but without ever coming to a definitive conclusion. When he died in his native St Petersburg in 1887, Prince Igor his self-styled Russian epic opera was still incomplete, a rough-hewn structure still full of numerous holes.
Mussorgsky s Khovanshchina described by its composer as a national music drama likewise remained unfinished, surviving in the form of a convolute of manuscripts written down between 1870 and 1880. The composer s own libretto takes as its starting point the period leading up to the accession of Peter the Great and centres on the uprising and overthrow of the Strel tsï, the crack Moscow militia under Prince Ivan Khovansky, who gives the opera its name. Normally translated as The Khovansky Affair , Khovanshchina could also and more colourfully be rendered as The Khovansky Mess . In 1879, the year in which Eugene Onegin received its first performance in Moscow, excerpts from Prince Igor and Khovanshchina were performed at a series of workshop concerts in St Petersburg, including the Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor. (The Polovtsians are pagan nomads who have captured our eponymous hero.) Khovanshchina was represented by the Dance of the Persian Slaves performed in the opera as a way of bewitching Prince Khovansky before he is assassinated. In both cases we are dealing with musical varieties of orientalism, colourful, magnificent and martial in Borodin s case, mysterious and melancholy in Mussorgsky s. This exotic element is an integral part of the Russian nationalist school, an aspect of the country s cultural identity under Tsarist rule, when Russia s imperialist ambitions extended towards the East.
Richard Strauss, conversely, sought the Orient not in remote continents but deep within our unconscious, in the topography of the human psyche. Completed in 1905

Short History of Jazz

Jazz is sometimes referred to as "America's classical music". It has come to be a diverse genre with its roots in native American and African music; in particular, the blues, spirituals and rag time. Jazz first became a defined music form in the early 1920 springing from the Us cities of New Orleans and later Chicago. Early Jazz was characterized by traditional rhythms and melodies being taken and improvised upon, giving a blend of swing and syncopation. Early Jazz performers of note included Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Domino, Bix Beiderbecke and Louis Armstrong. A good taste of this period can be gained by listening to recordings of Louis Armstrong's Hot Fives and Hot Seven ensembles.

By the 1930 Jazz had spread out of its local bases in South American and became more mainstream attracting white musicians as well. One development of Jazz was the big bands such as Ben Goodman and Glen Miller. Glen Millers big band became very successful and popular, but contribution diminutive scope for improvisation jazz aficionados saw it as more of swing rather than real jazz. Any way other big bands such as Duke Ellington and Count Basie provided some of the all time great Jazz recordings.

Symphonic Dances

Whilst the Big Band led jazz in a more accepted direction. The late 1930s and 1940s also saw jazz develop in other direction straight through the creation of the new "Be Bop" craze. Be Bop is epitomized by the great musicians such as Charlie "Bird" Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Sonny Rollins. These musicians took Jazz to new heights of improvisation, loosening the adherence to harmony's and rigid chord structures.

Unlike previous forms of jazz, Be bop was not designed for dancing but was seen more like an opportunity to showcase the musical expertise of the performers. Some of the great be bop recordings came about as the performers played off each other, each striving for greater excellence and improvisation. One of the many recordings of this period was "Jazz at Masey Hall" 1953 featuring Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker amongst others, it is a very good example of live jazz music. In the 1960s Be bop evolved into a form of "free jazz" with diminutive if any adherence to accepted harmonies and chord structures. One of the best selling jazz recordings which characterized this new form was "A Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis.

Alas many of the great jazz performers led tragic lives, a seemingly very high division died prematurely, inevitably from drug and alcohol misuse. Unfortunately many young performers came to join together drugs with being a successful jazz performer so jazz industrialized a strong prestige for connection with narcotics.

To play Jazz music successfully a classical background is surely an advantage. To be a successful jazz player you need to be able to learn the chords and scales of the song. With this basic buildings you can then improvise nearby these chords to give the improvised or jazz effect. Any way to be a great jazz musician a lot more is needed than formal training, successful improvisation is a difficult skill that appears to come really to a rare few.

Guitar Tab - Jingle Bells

Today you will learn a very beloved Christmas song. You will learn to use easy guitar tablature notation so you do not need to know sheet music. Time for Jingle Bells!

First, take a look at this guitar tablature staff:

Piano Concerto

1. ----------------

2. ----------------

3. ----------------

The three lines you see in this tab staff recite the three first strings on your guitar. Of course a general guitar has six strings to play but today we will only need the first strings.

The first string with the estimate one is the string with the top pitch. It is also called E.

When you read a guitar staff you will also find numbers on the line indicating which frets to press down with your left hand.

Here you have an example:

1. -------0---

2. ---1-------

3. -----------

The estimate one on the second line tells you to press down the first fret on the second string. The next estimate zero tells you to play the first string without any fret pressed down. This is called to play on an open string.

Let's start with our Christmas song. Here are the first line of lyrics and the corresponding guitar tab notation:

Jingle bells, jingle bells

1. ---0---0---0---0---0---0---

2. ---------------------------

3. ---------------------------

As a suggestion you can play the strings with your right hand thumb.

Time for the next guitar tablature staff:

Jingle all the way

1. ---0---3-----------0---

2. -----------1---3-------

3. -----------------------

I propose that you give your left hand fingers the assignment to play one fret each as shown here:

Index: first fret

Middle finger: second fret

Ring finger: third fret

Next guitar tab:

Oh! what fun it is to ride

1. ---1---1---1---1---1---0---0---

2. -------------------------------

3. -------------------------------

When you press down the frets with your left hand finger you should place your left hand thumb on the back of the guitar neck for support.

In a one-horse open sleigh

1. ---0---0---0-----------0-------3---

2. ---------------3---3-------3-------

3. -----------------------------------

At first you might find it a minute bit difficult to use your left hand fingers the way I described but when you get used to play this way it will surely help you play better.

Now you only have to repeat the lyrics and the former guitar tabs except the last line of the lyrics which will have a slightly separate melody the last time:

Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh! what fun it is to ride

and here is the guitar tablature melody for the last line the second time:

In a one-horse open sleigh

1. ---0---0---3---3---1-----------

2. -----------------------3---1---

3. -------------------------------

Now you have completed the song and the only remaining task is to learn it by heart and you are ready for Christmas!

Romantic Piano Concerto Vol. 22 - Busoni: Piano Concerto Specifications

Back when the film Shine was popular, Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto became all the rage as a work making nearly suicidal demands of its soloist. But one mountain of challenges to the virtuoso you're not likely to encounter in live performance is the Piano Concerto of Ferruccio Busoni. Its dimensions are Guinness Book material: Lasting over 70 minutes and cast in five epic movements, it not only uses a gargantuan orchestra but calls for an invisible male chorus singing a mystical hymn of stunning beauty in the finale. But the concerto isn't just about grandiosity. Its complex, symbolic architecture gives the work a searching intensity more akin to the trajectory of a Mahler symphony. In his preoccupation with synthesizing elements from North and South, incorporating contrapuntal complexity and flowing Italianate lyricism, introspective gloom and fevered excitement, Busoni sounds something like a character out of Thomas Mann.

Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin--who has made a specialty of neglected masterpieces--performs with a tremendous range of expression and theatrical flair, clearly holding his own against the earlier celebrated account of John Ogdon. The sui generis nature of the piece requires an unusually high degree of sensitive interaction from the conductor. Mark Elder shows a magnificent grasp of Busoni's architectonic sensibility and his sculpting of musical space, as well as of the score's kaleidoscopic orchestration. Busoni may be bidding farewell to an entire tradition here, but it's his over-the-top originality that is likely to captivate you. --Thomas May

Newly remastered from a Voice of America mono off-line aircheck, one hears more detail and ambiance here than in previous reissues of this controversial performance taped live at Carnegie Hall April 6th, 1962. The conductor's infamous "disclaimer" disassociating himself from Glenn Gould's slow tempi is preserved along with a snippet from an interview in which Gould defends both his interpretation and Bernstein's actions. The first movement starts slow, but insidiously speeds up to a tempo not far from the norm. Flickering in and out of Bernstein's turgid orchestral backdrop, Gould downplays the music's fiery intensity, seeking to emphasize its meditative qualities and contrapuntal implications. If Sony wanted to issue a Gould Brahms D- Minor, why not the more incisive, and far better-engineered October 1962 Baltimore version? --Jed Distler

Bogoroditse Dyevo Raduisya. Rakhmaninov

Bogoroditse Dyevo Raduisya. Rakhmaninov Tube. Duration : 2.85 Mins.

This composition from the opus 37 "Vespers" of Sergei Rakhmaninov is my favourite setting of this text. It is combined with Russian icons of the Mother of God of Kazan. The text differs from the Western version. "Virgin Birthgiver of God, rejoice! Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee! Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Saviour of our souls!"

Beethoven - The Music Genius of All Time

"Beethoven enlarged the limits of the classical style beyond all previous conceptions, but he never changed its needful structure or abandoned it, as did the composers who followed him. In the other underlying aspects of his musical language, as well as in the key relations within a particular movement, Beethoven may be said to have remained within the classical framework, even while using it in startlingly radical and original ways" said Charles Rosen in his classical contemplate 'The Classical Style.'

Keeping in mind this quote, it gives us a clear view of the allembracing genius of Beethoven who created eternal tunes and immortal symphonies, which in today's world are thought about as masterpieces. To understand the bona fide class of this maestro, it is leading to look at his background as to how he became the archetypal of the classical and romantic era.

Piano Concerto

Brief History

Ludwig Van Beethoven, of German Origin, was born on December 17, 1770 in the home of Johann who was proficient trainer of violin, piano and voice. Teaching music was his bread and butter as he was a chapel devotee (Kapellmeister). Since his early age, Beethoven used to sing soprano in the very same electoral chapel where his father was the chapel devotee who taught Beethoven, violin and piano. Since 8 years of age, he studied with quite a lot of local organists, even received piano lessons from Tobias Friedrich Pfeiffer, where violinist like Franz Rovantini present him violin and viola lessons. Even though as a born artist, Beethoven's musical brilliance was linked to that of Mozart's, he never exceeded the elementary level in school education. In his teens in 1787, he went to Vienna for unknown reasons, but some say that he even met Mozart and took lessons from him. In a two weeks time when he came back his world suddenly changed for him as his mum died and his father became a drunkard. Beethoven, at the age of 19, formally requested to be known as the head of the house and started receiving half of his father's salary to withhold his siblings.

Beethoven shifted to Vienna in 1792 where his father died in the very same year. His father died in December that same year. He studied with Haydn for a dinky time as there was a personality clash. Beethoven then studied with the best known trainer in Vienna, Johann Georg Albrechtsberger. With him he learned contrapuntal and counterpoint exercises in free writing, in two to four-part fugues, in imitation, choral fugues, double fugue, double counterpoint at the discrete intervals, canon and triple counterpoint. With this learning process he kept on composing more and more where in 1800, the first symphony and a septet (op. 20) was performed by him. At the age of 20 he became deaf and the whole life of Beethoven completely transformed though he tried to hide his impairment form the world but could not succeed. Beethoven used a particular rod linked to the soundboard on a piano that he could gnaw -the vibrations would then move from the piano to his jaw to amplify his understanding of the sound. By 1814 he became totally deaf. After 1815, no successors came upfront to carry the patronage, and Beethoven relied generally on selling mixture rights and a meagre pension.

A born Genius

Now here the quiz, arises how a great composer like Beethoven wrote symphonies 2, 3 (Symphony 3, Eroica was titled as Bonaparte, which was a tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte) and 4 within 1800-1806, which were his early days of deafness? What one can say about his imaginative thoughts as they were God gifted and no human can invent that by himself. If he would have been piquant enough, he could have studied well in his school days. But he was the chosen one born to generate such a music, which is immortal. The talent was there within him it was just the brushing up of that talent was required that revolutionized the world of music.

Evident in the test of time, his symphonies were established to be devotee pieces in conjunction with his other works. Beethoven loved a woman named Fanny, but never married. He spoke of her in a letter saying, "I found only one whom I shall doubtless never possess." The romance in his sonatas is quite evident of his true love. Beethoven completed abundant music works throughout his life. Each and every piece is a representation of his brilliance having its own style and invent with distinction and modulation. Even though Beethoven's music discrete from symphonies to sonatas, his area of expertise was piano concertos, string quartets piano sonatas and symphonies, which were his favourites as well. Beethoven's compositional vocation is normally divided into Early (upto 1802), Middle (1803-1814) and Late (1815 onwards) periods. In his Some first-rate pieces from the Early duration are the 1st and 2nd symphonies, the 1-6 string quartets, 1-3 piano concertos, and the first 20 piano sonatas, including the evergreen "Moonlight" sonata.

His Middle (laudable) duration started along with his detection of encroaching deafness. It is preeminent for broad base music that express struggle and heroism, Middle-period works consist of the fourth and fifth piano concertos, six symphonies (Nos. 3-8), violin concerto, the triple concerto, the next seven piano sonatas (this consist of Waldstein and Appassionata), five string quartets (Nos. 7-11) and Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio.

The last duration is very much thought about as the Romantic period. Music from this time is branded by his intellectual depth, formal innovations, and intense personal expression. For instance, the Ninth Symphony, Missa Solemnis and the "Hammerklavier" Sonata are the best known masterpieces of the last period. After his death in, every musician across the globe, is somewhat and at any time of his music vocation is inspired by Beethoven's music. The biggest example that can be quoted it the European committee which designed the European flag adopted Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy' from his 9th Symphony in 1972 which became the legal anthem of the European Union in 1985. The composer has also been portrayed in a number of films, both theatrical and television releases. Since his death in 1827, the influence of Beethoven's music on subsequent generations of composers is profound and will carry on centuries ahead.

ARGERICH / ABBADO / BERLIN P. O. PROKOFIEV / RAVEL: PIANO CONCERTOS

Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No. 3 / Ravel: Piano Concerto in G; Gaspard de la Nuit Specifications

This is the original Prokofiev/Ravel concerto coupling as it appeared on LP; the Prokofiev has also been coupled with the Tchaikovsky First Concerto. I prefer this edition since superb performances of the Ravel are less common. The young (1967) Martha Argerich plays the Prokofiev for maximum brilliance but leavens the Ravel with the composer's ironic lyricism. It's very effective. The bonus is one of the greatest performances of the Ravel piano suite ever recorded, but it leaves me wondering what will happen to the remainder of the original LP. All those solo Ravel pieces should be in the catalog; as Argerich plays them, they offer a primer on what keyboard color is all about. --Leslie Gerber

Caribbean Music

Without doubt the work on of Black African music has spread worldwide and has a profound work on on music virtually everywhere.

Caribbean Music especially started to be influenced by African inheritance when the slave trade was originally brought to the Caribbean and the Americas. There are different genres of music but the most influential comprise Steel Bands, Calypso and Reggae.

Piano Concerto

Listening to Caribbean Music can assuredly have a very sure work on on your mood. It will give you a real 'good feeling' and help highlight your day. For the most part the music stemming from the Caribbean is happy, vibrant and 'fun like'.

The unique sound of the Steel Drums (or Pans) takes your mind straight to the Caribbean. Promptly you think of Palm Trees, spectacular long sandy beaches, hot sunshine days, long cool drinks and all things at your disposal to make your life easier and more tranquil.

Steel Pans (drums) has its roots in Africa but its home is now assuredly Trinidad. Steel Pans evolved in the 1930s replacing the primary banned tamboo bamboo. Bamboo was originally cut to assorted lengths and sizes and was made into the main instrument.

It is generally regarded that some of the finest Steel Bands come from Port of Spain in Trinidad. There is an annual competition to rule who is the best for that year. Any way there are many other fantastic Steel Bands that originate from other cities and countries who have proved to be precisely exquisite bands as well.

Reggae is one of the best known genres of music, which first came to fame in the 1960s especially in the United States. Reggae's home is Jamaica and the world capitol has to be Kingston, Jamaica. Reggae's amelioration is partially due to African and Caribbean music, Ska, Rocksteady and American R & B.

Artists such as Desmond Decker, Jimmy Cliff, Prince Buster and the legendary Bob Marley breathed special life into Reggae and it officially came to prominence around 1967 - 1968. Uk artists such as Aswad, Steel Pulse and especially Ub40 had a profound work on overall.

Bob Marley was probably the everlasting king and his masterful work on will live on forever.

Think of Calypso, think of great rhythms and let the music of the Caribbean take you off to a great more beautiful place. It will help to inspire you.

Have fun with music for now and always.

Jls Facts

Jls facts are not hard to come by looking as the band was established in a social manner via the television show, The X Factor.

Jls stands for Jack the Lad Swing and consists of four members. Aston Merrygold was born on the 13th February 1988, Marvin Hume was born on the 18th March 1985, Jonathan "Jb" Gill was born on the 7th December 1986, and Oritsé Williams was born on the 27th November 1986.

Piano Concerto

The formation of the band is the consequent of Oritsé deciding to get complicated with the music business as a member of a boy band due to his mom suffering from multiple sclerosis. His ambition was to raise money to help find a cure of the disease. Oritsé initially wanted to be a part of an existing band but was not satisfied with the groups he found as he wanted a band that had a close bond. As a consequent of his dissatisfaction, he decided to originate his own band.

Oritsé met with Marvin through friends, and soon after, Aston joined the band, with Jb being the final member, who was welcomed by the others because of his strong 'musical ear.' Jb is often determined the 'harmoniser' of the group because of his vocal ability.

The foursome, now known as Jls was originally called Ufo, standing for Unique famous Outrageous. They received raved reviews before being signed by a major report label. In 2007, they were awarded for Best Unsigned Act at the Urban Music Awards under their former name, Ufo.

Jls, still known as Ufo, auditioned for The X Factor show in 2008, where they changed their name to the now widely know Jls after the name Ufo had already been taken by other group. The guys were a quick favourite with the judges, determined to be the winning act by Simon Cowell after performing the Rihanna smash hit song "Umbrella." The band made it to the final but was beaten by Alexandra Burke who got to achieve with Beyonce Knowles on the night. Although the band came in second place, they were already firmly in the social eye and were swiftly given a recording deal by Epic Records in January 2009.

In July 2009, the Jls debut singular "Beat Again" was released, which reach whole 1 on the official Uk Singles Chart, with an album that shortly followed. Jls concert dates were soon released with thousands of tickets being snapped up by fans who till this day remain loyal to the band.

After only a few short years in the social eye, the band are loved by millions of fans across the country, with more people - namely youthful girls - following the band's vocation dedicatedly. Their second album, "Outta This World" has seen query for Jls Tickets soar, with fans wanting to see them achieve their rave quote dance sequences. Recently, the band announced the issue of the Jls 3D Concert Movie title "Eyes Wide Open," which is being shown simultaneously across cinemas nationwide in June. A "Jls ticket" to this concert movie screening is treasured by fans leading the boy band to grow their fan base with amazing reviews from both fans and critics.

Jls are said to be working on their third album, which is foreseen, to garner an even bigger fan base, with Jls concert tickets set to be a high commodity when news of new Jls tour dates are released.
